On 21 October, a departure order for non-emergency diplomats in Saudi Arabia became, within minutes, an evacuation of “all staff” across the Gulf. We traced the earliest posts we could find, the denial, and the hours that followed.

واقعیت: Not cancelled. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on 23 Oct it had completed ratification of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement and reaffirmed its commitment on 26 Oct; there is no AFP report of a cancellation.

The Saudi Energy Ministry said the drone was intercepted and its debris set fire to a contractor's vehicle outside the facility; operations were not affected.
Lebanon's Al-Akhbar (20 Oct), citing unnamed Yemeni sources, reported talks on about 10,000 fighters; 20,000 is the top of an earlier Axios estimate.
The Reuters clip is about travel routes, not people fleeing.
Jeddah Civil Defense said on 20 October that a private company's temporary water tank collapsed accidentally near the University of Business and Technology.
According to AFP (18–19 Oct), Kingdom Centre's management told office staff to work remotely until further notice on 18 October, without giving a reason, and the mall stayed open.
Shaybah is Saudi Arabia’s largest oil field, and a drone knocked it out of service.
The Energy Ministry said the drone was intercepted and operations were not affected. The Kingdom’s largest field is Ghawar.
On 21 October the ministry said debris set fire to a contractor’s vehicle outside the facility; Reuters reported that two people were killed after air defences intercepted the drone. Posts using “out of service” or “largest field” wording went from zero at 18:00 UTC to 171 in the following hour.

Videos show panic buying in Saudi supermarkets out of fear of war.
The most-shared clip shows the 2025 opening of a supermarket in Mecca.
Dismislab matched the keyframes to a TikTok video uploaded on 1 September 2025 and confirmed the location with photos of the store. Rumor Scanner found the clip online since at least January 2026.

A video shows Egyptian fighter jets arriving over Riyadh.
Versions of the clip were posted months earlier, including in August 2026.
CNN Arabic split the clip into stills and ran reverse searches, finding copies posted early this year and in August, before any talk of Egyptian deployment.
