Masahihisho

Tukikosea, tunasahihisha waziwazi, kwa lugha zote, na tunaonyesha mabadiliko kwenye uhakiki. Tuandikie [email protected] au @ArabiaFactCheck kwenye X.

English

We aim to be accurate. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly and make the correction as visible as the original.

What this policy covers

  • Factual errors in our fact checks, social media posts, reports and data: wrong facts, figures, dates, names, quotes, translations or sources.
  • Errors that change a rating, where new or overlooked evidence means our rating was wrong.
  • Missing or unclear information that materially affects how a reader would understand a fact check.
  • Complaints that we have not followed our Methodology or our Nonpartisanship and independence policy.

What it does not cover

  • Disagreement with a rating that is not supported by new evidence or by a specific error.
  • Requests to remove or change a fact check because it is unwelcome, without evidence that it is wrong.
  • Abusive, threatening or repetitive messages.

How to request a correction

Email [email protected] with the subject "Correction request", or send a direct message to @ArabiaFactCheck on X. Please include the link to the fact check or post, what you believe is wrong, and any evidence. You can write in any of the languages we publish in.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge every request that falls within this policy. Acknowledgement time: Coming soon
  2. The request is reviewed by an editor who did not write the original fact check. The Editor-in-Chief decides on any change of rating.
  3. Target time for a decision: Coming soon. If we need longer, we tell you.
  4. We record every request and our decision in our corrections register.

How we correct

Type When What we do
Correction A factual error that does not change the rating Fix the text and add a dated note explaining what was wrong and what is correct.
Rating change The error, or new evidence, changes our conclusion Change the rating, add a prominent dated note at the top with the old rating, the new rating and why.
Clarification Wording was unclear or incomplete but not wrong Clarify the text and add a dated note.
Update New information emerged after publication Add the information with a dated update note.

We do not silently delete or rewrite published fact checks. If a fact check must be withdrawn, we replace it with a note explaining that it was withdrawn and why, as far as we can.

Making sure readers see the correction

  • All language versions of a fact check are corrected at the same time.
  • If we shared the original on X, we post the correction in reply to our original post.
  • Public corrections log: Coming soon

If you are not satisfied

You can ask for the decision to be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief (Coming soon) at [email protected].
